New Job
22/03/2008Well, after a years of toiling in relative obscurity, I’ve finally landed a job to be proud of. Sure, working at AT&T was great and I loved working at the Satchel Ford Elementary before that, but I’ve always wanted a straight-up IT position. It hadn’t happened until now. I’ve been thru interview after interview, been turned down 4 times this year alone. But I got it.
Best thing about this job: we not poor anymore. Not that we were indigent, but things were always tighter than I wanted. I can’t wait to go grocery shopping without a budget.
Worst thing about this job: nothing. I’ll be doing IT for a local high school. The principal is great. The schools facilities are amazing.
Thing I’m most excited about: Practice rooms. The schools music building has practice rooms! On my break, I can take my instrument and practice. I miss my music, I just never told anyone.
Grand Irony: When I walked into HR to give notice, the HR manager pulled me aside to discuss upcoming management positions. Tool little, too late. I’m amazed that, after 2 lateral promotions that involved more responsibility and no more pay, they think I might be interested in another bait and switch move.
So that’s it. I recently upgraded the site to the latest nightly build. If you’re receiving an email every time I update, feel free to add my name to your email lists.
Oh, Casey is coming into town today. YAY, Casey.
Denielle is on her way home from NY. Maybe I can convince her to hop on and discuss her trip.
